Beyond the Classroom

Music at Charter Bermondey

Music here isn't an extra. It's a core part of every student's experience.  Through our partnership with the prestigious Andrew Lloyd Webber Music in Secondary Schools Trust (MiSST), we've made that belief a reality.  Beyond lessons, students take part in ensemble work, develop performance skills and perform at prestigious venues such as the Barbican.

The MIIST Programme

Free music lessons for all

Every student in Years 7 to 9 receives their own instrument and follows a structured three-year curriculum - funded through the generosity of Greystar, developers of the neighbouring Bermondsey Project.

Individual and Group Lessons

Thanks to Greystar's sponsorship, we are also able to offer free or subsidised one-to-one and small-group instrumental lessons, giving every student who wants to go further the opportunity to do so.

Believe in music

Music at GCSE

Students who develop a passion for music through the MiSST programme can go on to study GCSE Music in Year 10, building on the strong foundations laid in Key Stage 3.

Our Facilities

State-of-the-art spaces to learn

Our state-of-the-art building provides the ideal environment for music to flourish — with dedicated music classrooms, individual practice rooms and group rehearsal spaces. We want music to take centre stage at Charter Bermondsey, with performance and creativity filling the air and inspiring our whole community.

Learning the violin has helped me focus and express myself in a different way. I love being part of the orchestra and working together to make something that sounds beautiful.
