Student Leadership

Become a leader

At Charter Bermondsey, leadership isn't reserved for a select few. We believe every student has the potential to make a difference - to their school, their peers and their community. Our student leadership programme gives young people real responsibility, real influence and real impact.

Head Students

Our Head Students represent the entire student body and work directly with the Principal, meeting fortnightly to ensure the student voice sits at the heart of school decision-making.

Their work is hands-on and meaningful - from organising whole-school events and leading prefect recruitment, to carrying out library audits and planning the Year 11 prom.

These are not ceremonial roles. They are genuine leadership opportunities that build independence, communication and confidence.

Learning Family Representatives

Every Learning Family elects a representative who gathers feedback, shares ideas and drives improvements across the school. Reps meet regularly as a committee to discuss issues that matter to students, and elections take place each autumn - giving every pupil the chance to put themselves forward and be heard.

Prefects

Prefects in Years 10 and 11 play a vital role in the daily life of the school - supporting events, supervising communal areas, helping younger year groups during Learning Family Time and acting as positive role models throughout the building. Leadership at Charter Bermondsey is rooted in service, and our prefects embody that every day.

Maths and Reading Buddies

Selected students support younger pupils with reading and numeracy, developing their own leadership, empathy and mentoring skills in the process. It's peer-to-peer learning at its best - good for both sides.
