Learning Spanish provides an opportunity to belong to an inclusive environment where taking linguistic risks is met with kindness, recalling Brené Brown’s reminder that "True belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves". We foster the belief that speaking another language opens hearts with integrity, echoing Nelson Mandela’s words that communicating in someone's language "goes to their heart". Key Stage 3
Taught in 2 x 55-minute lessons per week, our KS3 curriculum helps students develop their understanding and ability to respond to spoken and written language. They will speak Spanish with confidence and fluency, write for different purposes, and enhance their reading skills in the language.
Key Stage 4
In KS4, students have 3 x 55-minute lessons each week, following the AQA GCSE specification. They will communicate confidently and coherently with native speakers, engage with authentic materials, and deepen their understanding of the cultures where Spanish is spoken. Enrichment opportunities, including trips and visits, will further enrich their learning experience.
